Christmas Tree Recycling

Christmas Tree Recycling

Residents have several options for disposing of natural and artificial Christmas trees after the holidays.

Natural Christmas Trees

Free Curbside Pickup
Burrtec Waste Industries will collect both flocked and unflocked natural Christmas trees from residential barrel-service customers January 5 through January 16, 2026, on their regular trash collection day. Trees must be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. with all stands, decorations, lights, ornaments, and plastic bags removed. Trees taller than 6 feet must be cut in half. Trees will be collected by a separate truck and may be picked up at a different time than regular trash service.

After January 16
Residents may schedule a free bulky item pickup through Burrtec at (760) 245-8607. Customers on barrel service are eligible for two free bulky item pickups per year, with up to five items per pickup.

Drop-Off Option
Natural and artificial Christmas trees may also be dropped off through the end of January at the Victorville Recycling Drop-Off Center, 15164 Anacapa Road, during regular business hours. A photo ID and recent utility bill are required.

Organics Cart Option
Natural Christmas trees may also be cut up and placed in the green organics cart. Be sure all decorations, lights, and stands are removed first.

Artificial Christmas Trees

Artificial trees may be scheduled for free bulky item pickup by calling Burrtec at (760) 245-8607, dropped off at the Victorville Recycling Drop-Off Center through the end of January, or cut down and placed in the black trash cart if the lid can fully close. All decorations and lights must be removed first.

Christmas Lights and Batteries

Holiday string lights and other electronic holiday items, such as inflatables with batteries removed, may be taken to the Victorville Recycling Drop-Off Center at 15164 Anacapa Road.

Batteries should be taken to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center, 14889 Loves Lane, open Wednesdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Free Christmas Tree Mulch

Free Christmas tree mulch is typically available mid-January through mid-February, while supplies last, at Victor Valley Compost. Residents should bring their own rigid containers. Staff may be available to assist with loading.
