City Maintenance Responsibilities

The City of Victorville maintains the public sewer system, including:

  • Sewer mains
  • Manholes
  • Sewer laterals located within the public right-of-way

City crews inspect, clean, and remove debris to keep the system operating safely and efficiently.

 

Property Owner Responsibilities

Property owners are responsible for maintaining the sewer line on private property, from the building to the point where it connects to the City’s sewer system.

This includes keeping the line clear of:

  • Roots
  • Grease buildup
  • Debris and blockages

All maintenance and repairs on private property are the responsibility of the property owner.

 

If You Experience a Sewer Issue

If your sewer line is not functioning properly:

  1. Contact a licensed plumber to evaluate the issue
  2. If the plumber determines the problem is in the City’s portion of the system, contact Public Works
