General Information

Your Annual Fire Inspection

The safety of our valued residents and businesses is of the highest priority to your Victorville Fire Department. In a continued effort to support our local businesses and ensure public safety, the Victorville Fire Department conducts annual inspections of all businesses located within the City of Victorville.

These annual inspections help ensure that local businesses are operating safely and in compliance with required State Fire Codes. Inspections are required for all commercial businesses, as well as some residential operations such as family day care facilities.

To make this process as efficient and convenient as possible, the annual inspection fee and annual operational permit fees are included as part of your business license application, and each year with your business license renewal.

Additionally, any business operations that are considered hazardous—simply due to the nature of the business activities or the use of the building—will receive an inspection for each identified hazard and will be issued an annual operational permit for each applicable hazard category.

Annual Inspection Process

Annual Fire Inspection Process

In order to most effectively and conveniently make this service available, the inspection will be conducted and the associated inspection fee invoiced as part of your business license application and with each annual business license renewal thereafter.

Before the Inspection

You may review our Sample Inspection Checklist in the next tab below to help prepare for the inspection.

During the Inspection

During the inspection, the Fire Inspector will use a checklist as a guide to identify violations. If any violations are found, a detailed list and explanation of all required corrections will be emailed to you at the conclusion of the inspection.

If your inspection is approved, an inspection report will be emailed to you as well.

Failed Inspections or Re‑Inspections

If violations are identified and corrections are required, the Fire Inspector will schedule a re‑inspection. The business owner will be provided with an anticipated re‑inspection date.

Annual Operational Permits

Business operations that are considered hazardous—simply due to the nature of their normal activities or use of the building (for example, carbon dioxide systems in beverage dispensing, dry cleaning, high‑piled combustible storage, or places of assembly)—will also receive an inspection for those hazards and will be issued an annual operational permit for each hazard identified.
