Low Utility Cost

New and expanding companies are conducting business in Victorville and locating to the Southern California Logistics Airport (S.C.L.A.) because of its cost effective and reliable public utility services. Services provided by Victorville Utilities include domestic and reclaimed water service, domestic and industrial wastewater service, electricity and natural gas.

Victorville's Municipal Utility Services (VMUS) provides electricity to existing, expanding and new industrial customers at S.C.L.A. and S.C.L.C. V.M.U.S. electrical services are provided through an inter-connect to a local substation located and distributed directly to V.M.U.S. customers through its distribution network. V.M.U.S. sets rates annually and traditionally provides its electricity at costs that are less than competing investor-owned utilities, including nearby municipal utilities.

Proximity

Through Southern California Logistics Airport (S.C.L.A.), Victorville offers multimodal capabilities, including ground transportation services. Once at S.C.L.A., cargo can be cleared and transported to the west and points eastward within 24-hours.

Victorville offers a central location with easy freeway access, is located off I-15, US-395 and SR-18 between Los Angeles and Las Vegas—just 40 miles from I-10 and I-40. Other nearby main routes include SR-58, SR-60, I-215, I-210 and SR-138.

Both the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, which are located less than 100-miles from the City, can be easily accessed from Victorville, via Union Pacific Railway and B.N.S.F. Additionally, Victorville’s secured Port of Entry designation allows businesses to bypass lengthy Customs inspections at major ports by clearing Customs at S.C.L.A..

An estimated 60% of all goods moving into and out of Southern California travel through Victorville.

Labor

Victorville is home to a large, skilled labor force that can help propel your business. Labor costs, which are often a significant component of the operating costs of warehouse and distribution facilities, are low. And the City places an emphasis on job training and placement, ensuring that the labor force is ready for action.

Due to the large number of aviation jobs in the area, Victor Valley College (V.V.C.) has partnered with the City of Victorville to provide an aviation maintenance technology program at S.C.L.A.  The program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the aircraft maintenance industry.

The two-year program is operated in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations and prepares students to test for the coveted Airframe and Powerplant licenses. The program does not require any educational prerequisites prior to enrollment at V.V.C. and allows students to learn and train on-site at an active airport.
