California landfills accept more than 350 million pounds of carpet every year. Carpeting takes up valuable landfill space, takes centuries to break down, and is bad for the environment.

Recycling is a better way to dispose of used carpeting. Old carpet can be made into useful new items like signs, insulation and even new carpet  and padding. And the good news is that taking your used carpet for recycling at the Victor Valley Material Recovery Facility is more than 50% less than taking the same carpet to the landfill.

Please make sure your carpet is free of debris and moisture. Remove tack strips, nails, trash and dirt before recycling.  Check out the video below on how to prepare your carpet for recycling.
