The Right Stuff Curbside Contest is now closed for the year. Please check back in Spring 2026 for our next contest!

How it Works: Addresses are randomly selected from the Right Stuff entries from all submissions and all three carts: the GREEN organics, BLUE recycle, and BLACK trash cart are checked for the 'Right Stuff' in each container.

If the contents inside all three containers are sorted correctly, you are declared a winner! Winners are awarded a $100 cash prize.

Participants are selected every week. By entering your address in "The Right Stuff" Contest, you give permission to the City of Victorville and Victorville Disposal/Burrtec Waste Industries to look into the contents of your organics, recycling, and trash carts at the address provided to check for accurate sorting. 

You must be a residential customer of the City of Victorville and enter the contest for a chance to win. The contest is meant to encourage and promote responsible sorting of organics and recycling in the City of Victorville.

What is the Right Stuff?

• Organics Cart: The GREEN cart is for ORGANICS only. This includes BAGGED food waste such as fruit & vegetable peelings, baked goods, fried foods, eggshells, coffee grounds, and other food scraps/waste. Yard trimmings such as leaves, grass clippings, tree trimmings, weeds, flowers, and old mulch should also be placed into the green organics cart LOOSE. Your green organics cart MUST be free of any recyclables and/or trash.

• Recycle Cart: The BLUE cart is for RECYCLING only. This includes clean office paper, cardboard, brown paper bags, glass bottles & jars, tin & aluminum cans, and foil, as well as any rigid plastic jars, bottles, tubs, and trays labeled #1-#7. Recyclables need to be clean, dry, and LOOSE: Do not put them in bags. Your blue recycle cart MUST be free of any organic waste and/or trash.

• Trash Cart: The BLACK cart is for TRASH only. Put only non-organic and non-recyclable items in your trash cart. This includes diapers, pet waste, plastic bags/wrap, soiled paper & cardboard (such as paper towels, napkins, plates, and pizza boxes), hoses, sponges, worn out clothes, plastic cutlery, plastic cups & straws, etc. Do NOT put organic waste or clean, dry recyclables in your trash.

A Reminder About "Trash" Carts: For the past 10 years, the city's hauler, Victorville Disposal, has been gradually replacing green colored trash carts with black trash carts. Some residents may still have green carts for trash. If you still have a green colored trash cart, please call the trash hauler, Victorville Disposal, at (760) 245-8607 to swap out your green colored trash cart for a black trash cart.
