PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  June 22, 2020
SUMMER WATERING HOURS NOW IN EFFECT FOR VICTORVILLE WATER DISTRICT CUSTOMERS

VICTORVILLE, CA – Today, the City of Victorville issued a reminder that summer watering hours are in effect, and the three-day watering schedule continues for Victorville Water District customers. From June through September, automated sprinkler irrigation is permitted only between the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on designated watering days as follows:

Addresses ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8: Watering days are Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday
Addresses ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9: Watering days are Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday

Parks, Landscape Maintenance Assessment Districts, schools, and cemeteries that have multiple controllers and more than 10 watering zones, may water via automated sprinkler between the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 9 a.m. every day except Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The designated hours for automated sprinklers are one part of the Victorville Water District’s water efficiency plan to prevent water loss from evaporation and winds during summer months.

Drip irrigation systems or hand watering with a positive shutoff hose nozzle are exempt from these restrictions. In addition, sprinklers may be run for brief periods during the day to check for system leaks and to conduct repairs.

Customers are also reminded to get their irrigation systems ready for the summer months. Residents should run their systems during daylight hours for a few minutes to check for leaks, broken sprinkler heads, misaligned sprinklers, and any other issues that would cause water run-off and waste.

City of Victorville Conservation Specialists are available to answer questions from residents and businesses regarding water conservation, high water usage, or to take reports of wasteful water run-off and flow in gutters. Conservation Specialists can also assist water customers over the phone with programming irrigation timers to match the Summer Watering Hours and provide suggestions for water-wise landscaping.

For more information on water conservation in the Victorville Water District, customers can go to VictorvilleCA.gov/Conserve or call the Conservation Division at (866) 955-4426.

For an uncontrolled water leak at your home or one observed in the District service area, customers should call the City at (760) 955-5001.
