Victorville Water District Receives Climate Award
For Immediate Release: June 17, 2022

Victorville, Calif. – The Victorville Water District was awarded the 2021 Climate Impact Award from Enersponse—ranking it among the top ten performing water operators in Southern California. This award recognizes organizations that are committed to managing energy consumption when the electric grid is stressed, which helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG).

Last year, the Victorville Water District avoided 36.7 tons of GHG emissions. GHG emissions are known to cause environmental and health problems. Reducing carbon emissions helps mitigate the impacts of global warming and improves air quality.

The Water District has modified its procedures to ensure that energy intense processes are run during hours that clean, renewable energy sources are available, such as solar. The use of renewable energy results in reduced reliance on energy imports and fossil fuels, the largest source of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions.

The City of Victorville is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and helping to achieve a decarbonized energy system with energy sources that emit less carbon dioxide.
