Official Statement Regarding Water Quality

Post Date:03/07/2019 5:12 PM

The City of Victorville is issuing this statement proactively to help answer potential questions that might arise following the detection of E. Coli bacteria in a well operated by the County of San Bernardino that serves the community of Oro Grande.

Earlier today, the County of San Bernardino identified E. coli bacteria in a well that serves the community of Oro Grande. This well does not serve customers of the Victorville Water District operated by the City of Victorville.

The City of Victorville has two wells located in proximity to the contaminated well operated by the County of San Bernardino. One of these wells has been offline for the past one and a half months for maintenance. Out of an abundance of caution, the City of Victorville has taken the second well offline; and we will perform water quality testing before returning this well to service.

The City of Victorville tests water quality in its wells monthly. The most recent test, conducted late last week, was normal. The City also conducts weekly tests of its water distribution system, and the most recent tests of the water distribution system were also normal.

Anticipating that the County’s announcement earlier today could prompt questions from customers served by the City of Victorville Water District, the City of Victorville is issuing this statement.
