The Fleet Maintenance Division increases productivity and curbs costs by using the most efficient resources to keep the City’s fleet in a constant state of repair to provide safe and reliable vehicles and equipment.
The Fleet Maintenance Division manages the maintenance, repair and replacement of City vehicles and heavy equipment assigned to the City’s fleet, which also includes Police and Water Department vehicles. The Division utilizes efficient, preventative maintenance schedules to extend longevity and improve performance, as well as safety levels.
There were 2,514 work orders during Fiscal Year 2010/2011, which is attributed to the Division’s perseverance in using the best preventative maintenance methods available, such as routine tune-ups; tire rotation, front/rear brake and light inspections and/or replacement. Every mechanical component of a vehicle is retested to ensure proper and safe performance.
